Squares Philly Cheesesteak

Squares Philly Cheesesteak

Ingredients

500g Rump or Sirloin Steak, sliced thinly, roughly 1/2cm thick
2 green bell peppers
2 onions
1 pkt Blue Ribbon Wholewheat Squares
9 slices Edam cheese
1/2 cup Mayonnaise

Beef Marinade:

1/2 Tbsp bicarbonate of Soda
1 1/2 Tbsp vinegar
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp garlic salt
1/2 Tbsp onion powder
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt
2 cups water
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Method

1. To make the marinade, mix all the ingredients together and place the thinly sliced beef into the marinade to marinate for at least an hour.
2. Slice the onions and peppers very thin, same as the beef thickness.
3. Sear them in 3 Tbsp of oil until charred for 3 minutes.
4. Remove and place the pan back on the burner. Drain the beef and cook on high heat until just cooked. Be careful not to over cook.
5. Open each square and thinly spread mayo on each half of the square.
6. Add the steak, peppers, onions and cheese and top with the other square.
7. Grill under for 2-5 minutes until cheese melts and the bread is slightly toasted.
8. Serve hot whilst the cheese is melted.
