Peppermint Crisp Ice Cream Sarmie & Strawberry Milk Tart Surprise

The Slice of SA competition helped us find the boldest and best South African recipes from our Blue Ribbon fans. Our Sandwich Squares were topped, stacked and filled with some fresh recipes from our winners.

This sweet treat is the brainchild of budding chef and mom of two, Maryam Patel. She spends a lot of time watching cooking shows, adding a South African twist to her favourite TV recipes.

Peppermint Crisp Ice Cream Sarmie

Ingredients

4 Blue Ribbon Squares (makes four desserts)
1 can Caramel Treat
2 scoops vanilla ice cream (store bought or homemade)
2 bars Peppermint Crisp (crushed)

Method

  1. Prep your ingredients
  2. Toast your Blue Ribbon Squares
  3. Remove the Squares from the toaster and halve
  4. While your Squares are still warm, spread a layer of Caramel Treat over one half
  5. Sprinkle Peppermint Crisp over the Caramel Treat
  6. Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream onto the mixture
  7. Place the other half of the Square on top

Strawberry Milk Tart Surprise

Ingredients

4 Blue Ribbon Squares (makes four desserts)
1 milk tart (store bought or homemade)
1 punnet strawberries
2 tbsp heavy cream

Method

  1. Toast your Blue Ribbon Squares
  2. Scoop milk tart filling out into a bowl and combine with cream
  3. Mix together till they are fully combined
  4. Remove the Squares from the toaster and allow them to cool completely
  5. Cut strawberries in half and place one layer on one half of the Square, covering all corners
  6. Spread a thick layer of milk tart filling over the strawberries
  7. Place the other half of the Square on top
  8. If you wish, drizzle syrup, chocolate sauce or dust cinnamon on top
