Loafing around with friends
There’s more to being a great host than just a sparkling personality – you should be able to keep your guests well-fed and entertained with minimal effort. With a few loaves of Blue Ribbon bread in your kitchen, you can’t go wrong with some simple bread-based snacks to whip up when you have friends over:
Cheese and chives
Mix together some softened butter with finely chopped chives, a sprinkle of garlic salt and some grated Parmesan cheese. Spread onto slices of Blue Ribbon Low GI Low GL White Bread and cook under a hot grill until the butter is melted and the toasts are golden crispy. Slice into fingers and serve.
French toast always goes down a treat and is seriously simple to make – so why not serve it as a sweet snack? Prepare French toast as usual by dipping pieces of Blue Ribbon Toaster White or Toaster Brown into an egg and milk mixture and frying until golden.
Once cooked, slice the French toast into quarters, then into eighths, spread with Nutella or Peanut butter and top with a slice of strawberry or banana. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon and serve.
Bruschetta are delicious to eat, but who has a long French loaf on hand when visitors pop in at the last minute? Make your own bruschetta by stamping out circles in your Blue Ribbon Low GI Low GL Crushed Wheat Brown Bread with a round cooker cutter (you could even use your Crusty Creatures cutter) and toasting until golden.
Dice tomatoes then mix with a little balsamic vinegar, olive oil and salt and pepper. Top each toast circle with the tomato mix and serve.
Crispy triangles of bread work well as pate dippers. To make a simple salmon pate, place a tin of salmon in a blender with some mayonnaise, cream cheese, a squeeze of lemon and some chopped fresh herbs. Blend until smooth. Cut slices of Blue Ribbon bread diagonally (into halves) and toast until golden. Serve with the salmon pate.
